Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a exciting storyline showcasing divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in influence within the city.
Note: Spoilers for the latest installment of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and presented the first table of adventurers who will separate from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table features Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.
This explains, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three smaller tables: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
As described by the DM, the combat-focused party is for participants who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might appear mismatched, but the events of the third episode demonstrate why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a intense first encounter with the enemy group.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.
Casimir then cleared his liabilities and fled to a fortified location in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each member has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
- Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and advises that it is a nasty location.
- The strong character and The healer, having defied his house’s orders to kill the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their position as important members in the powerful family could assist the team access places they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his deliverance and will now follow him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule the city for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The rogue and The hero are known criminals.
- The strong figure and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the clan.
This leaves them no alternative but to head to Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.
What’s Next?
From episode three’s post-show segment, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight cast members to round up the Explorers and Schemers groups.
Fans can anticipate finding out which players will be where in the story’s concluding setup installment, released on next week.
