I will overwhelm 'serious boxer' Paul - Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua is set to fight Jake Paul in an eight-bout match which will be streamed in real-time on Netflix.

Briton Anthony Joshua said he will "overwhelm entirely" the American and "break" the American as the pair came face-to-face to publicize the upcoming bout.

Ex two-time unified title holder Joshua meets social media star turned fighter Jake Paul - in what is, on paper, a huge uneven pairing - at Miami venue on December 19th.

Boxer's Mindset

"I'm going to damage his features and damage his physique. My goal is to show I'm the better fighter," the British boxer, 35 years old, said.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's how fighters think.

"I will genuinely try to cause him pain. That's my goal."

Civil Interaction

Despite those words, a composed Joshua and internet personality Paul - normally known for his theatrics - shared friendly words and maintained decorum with each other.

Jake Paul instead targeted ex Joshua opponent Francis Ngannou and called him "ridiculous" after Ngannou turned down a match opportunity.

Targeting Tyson Fury

Joshua, meanwhile, took aim at UK rival Tyson Fury - and declined a million-pound wager 'Tyson Fury' says he will place on a victory for Paul.

"[Paul] is superior to Tyson Fury - he showed up," the boxer stated.

"I give him credit for that."

Serious Opponent

Despite saying he intends to hurt Jake Paul, Joshua chose not to talk badly about his rival's boxing ability.

"Jake is a serious fighter," he remarked.

Paul's Background

Jake Paul - who initially became famous on the Disney Channel - has mostly fought MMA fighters or declining opponents since turning professional.

He lost to British fighter Tommy Fury in 2023.

Financial Success

However, the inexperienced fighter remains one of boxing's biggest financial successes, regularly earning huge financial rewards.

Prediction and Belief

The 28-year-old predicted a KO victory in the fourth or fifth round and asserted he would stop the highly-expected Joshua–Fury fight, which is apparently under discussion for 2026.

"The next fight will be me versus Tyson Fury next year," Paul said.

Physical Difference

As the two fighters engaged in the traditional confrontation, with their physical disparity clearly visible, it highlighted just how unlikely this whole event is - and how remarkable it is that the fight is truly going ahead.
